The G12 demonstrator (7707), built in 1954, was sold to the Swedisch Railways were it served until the early eighties. In 1986 is was bought by the Norwegian GM-Gruppen, which restored it. It is currently in use for charter trains.
Two other G12 locomotives were used in Norway. A/S Sydvaranger, a mining compagny in Kirkenes, bought two G12, one built by EMD and one by GMD.
