After the second world war the Norwegian State Railways (NSB) took over 20 2-axle passengers from Germany. The cars were of the well known type called
Donnerbüchse. They were classified as NSB type C3 and were briefly in service as regular third class cars, most of them in the original green color but a few were repainted in the NSB brown colors.
From 1954 to 1959 the cars were converted to conductor carriages with a passenger compartiment, call the BF3. In 1970 there were re-classified as BFV1. There were four different rebuilds, which differed mainly in whether the ends were closed only both sides on or only on one.
They were mostly used as conductor cars in freight trains and in that service until the last 1980's. A few survived a little bit longer as they were rebuilt to be used in the Sesams toget.
By 1999 they were all out of service. The 19905 became part of the GM-Gruppen collection and eventually was sold to someone in Denmark before it was scrapped. The 19919 came to the Netherlands where it is a toilet car in Amersfoort at the moment. See Martin Haman's website for more details.
The local freight train 5281 from Hamar to Dombås, as it ran in the 1980's, always had a conductor car. Therefore I have this car in my collection.
