Introduction
The Norwegian El18 is based on the Swiss Re460. One Re460 was on trial runs in the summer of 1993. In the summer of 1994 this unit returned together with another unit, so two units were running in Norway. This resulted in an order of 20 locomotives. They were built in 1996 en 1997 by Adtranz in Strømmen Norway. They replaced the El17 in the express train services.
Because most manufacturers have a model of the Swiss Re460 it was to be expected that some HO models of the El18 would come on the market. Sofar three manufacturers have produced an El18; Hag, Märklin and Roco.
In my collection I limit myself to models that fit the era around 1997. Therefore I don't have any of the later liveries in my collection.

This is a 2 rail version of the Märklin El18, which was produced

were made to the basic Re460 model. The cab interior has the driver position on the correct right side.
I've replaced the pantographs with better looking versions from Roco.

Description:

When the El18 was ordered BMJ made a model serie based on the Roco SBB 460 with the paint scheme that was assumed the real El18 would get, based on the El16/17 paint scheme. The black side is larger and the number is next to the NSB logo. The eventual real paint scheme was slightly different.
